GCSE SUCCESS FOR STUDENTS AT MOORSIDE HIGH SCHOOL

Moorside High School, part of Consilium Academies, is celebrating after another year of excellent GCSE results.

Students joined teenagers across the country who were finding out their GCSE results following exams in May and June. The youngsters have had many challenges to face, including the disruption to their education during the pandemic five years ago, when this year’s GCSE students were in their final year of primary school.

Despite this, Year 11 students across the country are celebrating fantastic achievement at GCSE, with the students of Moorside High School being no exception.

Amongst the high performers at Moorside were:

  • Ella Caddick achieved two Grade 9’s, two Grade 8’s, 2 Grade 7’s, one Grade 6 and one Grade 5. Ella is hoping to attend Xaverian College to study A-Levels in Classics, English Literature and History.
  • Todor Angelov, achieved three Grade 9’s, three Grade 8’s, 2 Grade 7’s and on Grade 6. Todor is planning to attend Winstanley College to study A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Mathematics.
  • Jay Byrne, achieved two Grade 9’s, three Grade 8’s, one Grade 7, one Grade 6 and a Distinction *. Jay is looking forward to attending Pendleton College to study A-Levels in Biology, Mathematics and Psychology.
  • Jessica Taylor, achieved six Grade 8’s and two Grade 7’s. Jessica is hoping to go on to Loreto College to study A-Levels in 3D Design, Geography and Mathematics.
  • Daisy Connelly, achieved two Grade 9’s, five Grade 8’s and four Grade 7’s. Daisy is looking forward to enroling at Pendleton College to study A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

Helen Ryles-Dean, Principal at Moorside High School, said: “Today, we are delighted to celebrate the truly fantastic achievements of our students following an exceptional amount of hard work and dedication. Their impressive results are a testament to their commitment and resilience, coupled with the passion and enthusiasm of our staff who, year after year, give generously of their time to offer support and guidance whenever it is needed. "We are proud to share that we have seen some individually outstanding results across a wide range of subjects.”

“I am extremely proud of all our Class of 2025 and the fantastic results they have achieved, especially having faced disruption to a significant proportion of their school years due to the pandemic. Their determination and perseverance have been remarkable, and today’s results reflect that. We wish all our students the very best of luck in their next steps and are confident they will go on to achieve great things in their chosen future paths.”

We congratulate all of our students on their well-deserved success and extend our heartfelt thanks to parents, carers and staff for their ongoing support throughout the school journey. Today is a day of celebration for our whole community and Team Moorside.

Michael McCarthy, CEO at Consilium Academies, said:
